Sahukara

Kannada (Sagar, Veeresh, Nalanda, Urvashi)
Cast: Vishnuvardhan, Ravichandran, Sashikumar, Rambha, Anu Prabhakar, Sumithra, Rangayana Raghu, Tennis Krishna
Director: N Omprakash Rao

This film, a remake of Muthu (originally made in Malayalam first), brings the talented Vishnuvardhan, Ravichandran and Sashikumar together. The story revolves around Muthu (Ravichandran), who works for Sahukara (Sashikumar).

He loves theatre actress Ranganayaki. But, Sahukara wants to marry her. The story continues with comedy, romance and action.

The director has followed the original story well. Vishnuvardhan plays the father’s role and Ravichandran plays the son’s role. The chasing episode, letter scene, romantic and comic interludes receive a good response from the audience. The film has some Malayalam and Telugu dialogues also.

Ravichandran has put in a good performance though the role is not much different from the ones he played earlier. Sashikumar is okay.

But, Vishnuvardhan, though his saint-like role is small, impresses.

Rangayana Raghu, as Zamindar Benkiyappa, plays a convincing villain when compared to his earlier roles like Bomb Naga (Ranga SSLC) and a minister (Dharma) in other films.

Cinematography by Seetharam adds colours to the film. Music by Ramesh Ramanath is good.
